Kurt is a commercial real estate specialist for the Kris Lindahl Real Estate Team. Prior to joining Kris Lindahl Real Estate. Kurt was a broker for Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq. Prior to that Kurt played for eight seasons in the National Hockey League, including stints with the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche and Phoenix Coyotes.
He attended St. Cloud Apollo High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota, before playing in the United States Hockey League and advancing to the NHL.
As a rookie defenseman for the Ducks, Kurt set a new record for games played in a rookie season (80). That year, he also became the youngest defenseman in NHL history to score a game-winning shorthanded goal in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Kurt went on to play more than 400 games in his NHL career.
Three of Kurt's brothers have also played professional sports: Craig played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons; Michael played for the New York Rangers and Kent was drafted by the Nashville Predators. Kurt's father, Curt Sauer, was also a pitcher in the Minnesota Twins minor league system.
Upon retiring from the NHL, Kurt set out on a career in real estate, following through on an interest in business that he developed growing up and became stronger throughout his hockey career.
Kurt is an active volunteer youth sports coach, having coached several of his children's hockey, soccer and baseball teams.
Kurt and wife Carmen moved to the Twin Cities metro area in 2016 and currently reside in Ham Lake with their six children, ages 6 through 15. The family loves fishing on the lake, and other experiences only Minnesota can provide.
